An exhibition standard 1in:1ft scale model of the Maudslay Son and Field Annular reversing stationary Engine of 1843 built by A. Mount, 1987. Measurements overall - 17 x 12½in. (43.2 x 31.7cm.)
With brass bound mahogany lagged annular cylinder, 5in. overall diameter x 3½in. stroke, truncated 'D' valve with hand wheel and gear operated pierced eccentric driven slip eccentric reverse, barrelled connecting rod, overhead mounted crankshaft supported on four parallel columns, waisted cranks, lever operated air and twin feed pumps, spoked flywheel and other details, finished in green and polished brightwork. NOTE: This type of engine was designed primarily as a paddle engine with the base cast to form the condenser, the inside of the inner cylinder wall forming the crosshead guide.
