Lot Essay

James Paget (1814-99) was born in Great Yarmouth and studied medicine at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London. His main field-of-intrest was surgical pathology. He served as sergent surgeon to Queen Victoria and was created a baron in 1871. In 1875 he was elected president of the Royal College of Surgeons.
