Lot Essay

Most of the etuis have divisions for containing lancets, and some contain lancets. Most are tortoiseshell although some are in mother of pearl. They are signed by various makers including Evans, H. Johnson, Savingay, Laundy, McLellan, Weiss, Hilliards, H. Bruce, Hilliard, Arnold & Son, Charriere,S. Maw, Millikin & Lawley, J.& W. Wood, Hutchinson, Rodgers, Norie, MacLeod, Fether, Girson, Morley, Mapleson, Grice, S. Woodhouse, and others. One etui also contains a silver toothpick/ear-wax scoop. Many of the silver ones are hallmarked between 1800-1847, although some will be earlier.
