the case on bracket feet with raised shield-shaped panel to the plinth, detached columns to the crossbanded trunk door, similar columns to the hood with dentil-moulded swan-neck pediment with brass rosette terminals and central ball and spire finial, the brass dial signed Coates Wigan on the foliate engraved centre with seconds and calendar rings, silvered chapter ring, foliate spandrels, rolling moonphase in the arch, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 97½in.(248cm.) high
