Lot Essay

A VERY FINE PRESENTATION COPY OF GRAHAM GREENE'S SECOND PUBLISHED, SUPPRESSED, NOVEL IN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE AND BRIGHT DUST-JACKET. Wobbe estimates the number of copies printed at between 2,500 and 3,000. Greene himself reported that the novel sold barely more than 2,000 copies. He withdrew it from the body of his work and no other editions, other than the American, exist.
