Lot Essay

Mould 1308 by Simon and Halbig was made in a male version similar to this doll, but with a wig instead of moulded hair, a less curving moustache, teeth showing and smooth brows rather than slightly frowning and no painted eyelashes. The female version of 1308 however, does have painted eyelashes and red dots at the inner eyes. See Simon and Halbig Dolls, the Artful Aspect by Jan Foulke, page 100 for a picture of mould 1308 in the male version.
