AN OLD BABYLONIAN CUNEIFORM CLAY TABLET

With 55 lines of text, forming a letter sent by a lady called Taram-Emah, concerning her "share" of an inheritance which she is waiting to receive, the text reads "... Why have you treated the big share so lightly? There are twelve granaries, but that Apil-ilishu has given me nothing ... 'Inform the palace about these matters.' You said, 'I have been robbed of a share in the estate of my lord. Apil-ilishu has robbed me. Until you have the letter of your lord and of the soldiers, do not come.'", one corner chipped; and a complete Old Babylonian cuneiform clay tablet, with 25 lines of text forming a private letter between two named persons, concerning the writer's responsiblity to provide clothing to the addressee and others, the letter begins, "Speak to Dadâ: Thus says Damu-ellassu, 'May Shamash and Ninshubur on my account keep you in good health for 7200 years! I am well, send me your news. Now, I have sent to you Nurshu-eli. Give him kiskushum-garment please...'", minor chipping, circa 1900-1700 B.C.
