A CYPRIOT WHITE PAINTED WARE ZOOMORPHIC ASKOS
MIDDLE BRONZE AGE, CIRCA 1725-1650 B.C.
In the form of a deer with tall antlers, a round aperture on the chest and small loop handle on the centre back, three short feet, with remains of dark brown painted decoration, antlers and tip of tail restored, 6 in. (15.2 cm.) high; a similar ware bull askos with single aperture at the tail, the bull's head with short pointed horns, pierced eyes and ears, a small loop handle on centre back, on four short legs, with black painted linear decoration, one horn restored, 3 3/8 in. (8.5 cm.) high; and another similar ware zoomorphic askos with central cylindrical spout on the back with pinched rim, loop handle behind, with red painted cross-hatched decoration, on four stump legs, spout repaired, 6 in. (15.2 cm.) high, both Middle Bronze Age, 1900-1650 B.C. (3)
