Lot Essay

The artist's inscription on the reverse of the panel reads, 'The undersigned declares that this painting (representing a view of the Ravenspoort in Elburg, province of Gelderland) is painted by him.' Springer has then sealed his inscription with wax, stamping it with his monogram to bind the guarantee.
