Unsigned, Meiji Period (Circa 1870-80)
A circular shallow charger worked in partially gilded copper wire and coloured enamels, the rim undecorated, the border loosely based on Chinese enamels with formal floral motifs against a blue background surrounding a large-scale central composition of hollyhocks and other plants and birds against a black background, the reverse extensively worked with copper wire to hold the enamelling in place
