Lot Essay

In the days before passengers were summoned to their dinner sittings by electric tannoy systems, bugles were usually sounded by a proficient steward along the liner's promenades and decks.

R.J. Ward & Sons, who manufactured this example, ceased to trade from this address in 1883, however the number which may, or may not be a design registration, would date it to 1886.
