A FINELY PLANKED AND DETAILED ¾IN:1FT. SCALE MODEL OF A BRIG-OF-WAR'S LONGBOAT OF CIRCA 1800
modelled by R. Phillips from his own researches using full scale practice, in boxwood, lime, spruce and mahogany with individual planks and frames, bottom boards, thwarts, seats with turned supports and foot rests, gratings, collapsed mast, rowlocks for six oarsmen, tiller and rudder. Mounted on two turned wooden columns on display base with twelve finely carved oars divided either side, brass plate with legend. Overall measurement -- 5 x 20 x 8in. (12.5 x 50.8 x 20.3cm.)
