William Webster, a professional numismatist of distinction, was the nephew of William Till, whose business he took over. He operated at first from Great Russell Street, Covent Garden, later at Bedford Square, and died in 1885. He was succeeded by his son William John Webster, who moved the business to Bloomsbury Place. In 1892 he joined the staff of Spink and Son where he stayed until his death in 1919. (see obituary by S M S(pink) in SNC 1919, pp.383-4)
