Tiny production (125 - 175 cases), a star winemaker (Heidi Barrett) and glowing reviews from Robert Parker have combined to make Screaming Eagle the hottest cult Cabernet on the circuit. Tasted 6 June 1997. Nearly opaque black violet color. Intense, ripe, focused fruit aromas, tarry, buttery, minerally, racy. On the palate, rich warm sweet jam, alcoholic but with surprisingly smooth and subdued tannins. Jammy right through the finish, with a mineral twist. Outstanding. FCH
