maker's marks of McKay, Cunningham & Co., Edinburgh, 1867
Of baluster form on spreading circular foot, with beaded borders, the upper border chased and embossed with ribbon-tied garlands on a matted ground, above engraved panels of foliage above a band of Greek key with embossed paterae between above a band of chased stiff palm leaves, the spout with cast Bacchus mask, domed hinged cover with baluster finial and scrolled thumbpiece, the elongated scroll handle terminating in a scrolled rosette, engraved with presentation inscription under spout
