ROMANÉE-CONTI
Romanée-conti , as the local proverb goes, "is the pearl of the Burgundian necklace." The miniscule vineyard of Romanee Conti, wholly owned by the Domaine that bears its name, is just 1.81 hectares. In 1868 the vineyard passed to the de Villaine family and is still, yoday, managed by Aubert de Villaine. M.B.
The quantities are small here, but that is not surprising, the total production is tiny, and the great vintages of the 50s and 60s are increasingly hidden away in the cellars of avid Burgundy collectors
