The original 8c. cards were printed in Shanghai (large-size "8"), however, production ceased when the Japanese occupied Shanghai on 8th December 1941. In 1944 the puppet government in Peking printed imitation cards showing medium or small "8". These were not issued without surcharge or overprint for use in Northern China and Mengkiang
