A wood netsuke of a tiger
19th Century
the recumbent animal carved facing forwards holding and eating a bamboo branch, finely incised hairwork all over, incised Gyokusho signature to base -- 2 3/8in. (6cm.) long; a wood netsuke of a coiled horse with inset eyes -- 1¾in. (4.4cm.) high; a wood netsuke of a monkey holding a large nut -- 2 1/8in. (5.3cm.) high; a wood netsuke of a samurai helmet -- 1 7/8in. (4.7cm.) wide; and another wood netsuke of two rats seated on a gourd -- 2¾in. (7cm.) long, (restoration to monkey and rats).
