The serpentine twin-flap moulded top crossbanded in rosewood and centred by a patera wreathed by an entwined laurel swag, above a swag-decorated mahogany-lined frieze drawer to one end, and amaranth-inlaid square tapering legs and block feet, restorations and replacements to the feet, the oval patera in the centre of the top possibly later

Lot Essay

A Pembroke table with a related frieze of three swags of laurel was ordered from the Berkeley Square cabinet-maker John Linnell by the Duchess of Northumberland for Alnwick Castle, circa 1770 (H. Hayward & P. Kirkham, William & John Linnell, London, 1980, vol. I, p. 65 & vol. II, fig. 291).
