Lot Essay

Five reeded night tables of this pattern, but with different handles, were manufactured by H. Holmes, H. Louis and R. Wilcock and supplied by Messrs. Gillow of London & Lancaster in 1812 for Tatton Park, Cheshire. A closely related pattern features in one of the firm's piece-rate books (N. Goodison and J. Hardy, 'Gillows at Tatton Park', Furniture History, 1970, pls 13A and B).
