Lot Essay

Hablot Knight Browne or 'Phiz' as he was always known, was a popular illustrator who contributed to publications such as New Sporting magazine (1839), The Sporting Times, and Punch (1842-44 and 1861-69). He illustrated a number of books and worked as Dickens' illustrator for a number of years.
