A GREEK BANDED AGATE RING STONE
Hellenistic Period, Circa 3rd-2nd Century B.C.
The convex oval stone engraved with Perseus, the tall, slender hero standing with his weight on his right leg, his left relaxed and bent at the knee, depicted nude but for a chlamys tied around his neck and draped over his left arm, wearing a peaked helmet (griffin helmet?), his head turned away from the head of Medusa which he grasps in his left hand, his gaze directed toward the harpe, the blade raised, which he holds in his lowered right hand, on a short groundline
