A PAIR OF GERMANIC GOLD AND CARNELIAN EARRINGS
Circa 5th Century A.D.
Each composed of a triangular sheet, set with four cabochon carnelians in plain bezels, each enclosed within an open box topped with granulation, the outer joins of the boxes with a small collar set with white glass, a suspension loop above joined to a circular earwire, the lower edge of the triangle with a border of two opposing twisted wires, and a fringe of six loops each supporting lengths of doubled loop-in-loop chain that terminate in a domed sheet which once capped a now-missing spherical bead of glass, pearl or stone
