A PAESTAN RED-FIGURED BELL-KRATER
Attributed to Asteas, Circa 350 B.C.
The obverse with white-haired Paposilenus seated on a rock, holding a skyphos before him, a duck at his side, a wreath and a fillet above, Dionysus standing to the right, nude but for a mantle draped over his left arm and a wreath in his hair, a thyrsus in his right hand, both wearing folded boots; the reverse with two facing draped youths; a band of wave below the scenes, a band of laurel below the rim, fanning palmettes with scrolling tendrils below the handles
