A ROMAN BRONZE FIGURE OF APHRODITE
Circa Mid to Late 1st Century A.D.
The goddess depicted nude, standing with her weight on her left leg, the right relaxed and bent at the knee, holding a thick garland in her raised right hand, her left hand lowered, her head slightly lowered and turned to her right, wearing a diadem with serrated edges in her hair, which is center-parted and tied in a chignon, with two tiers of vertical locks framing her forehead and two long tendrils falling on to her shoulders, on the original rectangular footed plinth, with incised zig-zag on the upper molding
