The central seated naked lady holding a scarf and mirror under a ruby and diamond canopy flanked by two enamel male masks suspending pearl tassels, connected by a pearl garland to the white enamel doves, tiger and floral bouquet at her feet, the front and reverse decorated with fine ropetwist borders, circa 1880, 8.0 cm. high

Carlo Giuliano (1831-1895) moved to London from Italy around 1860 where he and his two sons established a highly successful jewellery business. For fifty years they produced superb enamel and gem set jewels, often inspired by the Renaissance period. This is an exceptional example and testimony to the skill and brilliance of one of the great Master jewellers
