A Dutch figured walnut longcase clock
18th and 19th Century
Inlaid overall with crossbanded panels, the waved moulded arched hood with later concave caddy top, later figural finials and pierced sound frets to the front and sides and with turned capitals, the arched trunkdoor with a glazed lenticle and a gilt-metal mount depicting Europe and the bull, the plinth flanked by keeled angles, on paw feet, the silvered Roman dial signed Lourens Duchesne/Amsterdam, the matted and engraved centre with subsidiary silvered seconds ring, date, month and day aperture and alarm disc, with a rolling moonphase to the silvered arch, the five pillar movement with anchor escapement and Dutch strike on two bells, minor losses
