Lot Essay

Born in Hungary, Kéléty studied in Toulouse and Paris. He modeled small-scale figures of dancers, ladies of fashion, mythological characters and animals, generally mounted on marble bases. Some were utilitarian objects such as luminaires, some were bronze and ivory statuettes, and some were decorated in damascene and niello with flowers and geometric patterns. All were elegant, sophisticated and out of the ordinary.
