A 19th-Century lacquered-brass binocular microscope,
signed on the enamelled foot SWIFT & SON 81, TOTTENHAM COURT RD LONDON N.W., the twin eyepieces with rack and pinion focusing, the body-tube with rack and pinion focusing and nicol prism, the mechanical stage with substage condensor with diaphragm, movable with rack and pinion motion, and plano-concave sub-stage mirror on a sleeve (detached), with four Swift objectives in brass cans, in the original fitted mahogany cabinet, with applied paper label for Lt Colonel Linley Blathwayl Batheaston, Bath -- 16 3/8in. (41.6cm.)
