the hour ring engraved at the head with the initial B between two simple scrolls, graduated IIII-XII, I-VIII, with folding gnomon over the glazed conmpass with coloured paper with red and green wind-rose with eight wind directions and blued-steel needle, the square brass plate screwed to a stepped mahogany plinth, in a mahogany case with sliding lid -- 3in. (7.6cm.) square
