Lot Essay

Ralph Gout (1770-1863) was a renowned London watchmaker, and the workmanship of this instrument displays the skill of his chosen profession. Gout declared bankruptcy in 1796, and his stock was recorded as including many watches for the Spanish and Indian markets, as well as a number of pedometer watches.
