Lot Essay

Private Sidney Long, who was from Thornton Heath, Surrey, was killed in action near Le Fresnelle on 19.10.1914, while serving with the 3rd Battalion, Rifle Brigade.

Private James Clarkson, who was from Walsall, Staffordshire and latterly a Corporal, was killed in action in the Third Battle of Scarpe on 3.5.1917, while serving with the 8th Battalion, Rifle Brigade.

Private G.W. Byham, who was from Lavenham, Suffolk, was killed in action, France and Flanders, on 20.1.1918, while serving with the 3rd Battalion, Rifle Brigade.

Private W.H. Fletcher, who was from the Isle of Sheppey, died in the U.K. on 11.4.1917, while serving on garrison duty with the 5th Battalion, Rifle Brigade.
