Skiff (presentation inscription from Garland on sheet laid-in: "My first book and one that made me decide to 'write for a living.' Hamlin Garland." With Skiff's pencilled notes on verso: "My good friend Hamlin Garland wrote this slip especially for my copy of Main Travelled Roads as I did not care to take the risk of sending this beautiful copy to him either by express or mail.") -- Estelle Doheny (paper bookplate in slipcase chemise).
