WALT WHITMAN'S COPY, gift of the author, signed "Walt Whitman" in ink at top edge of the title-page, with six-word note in pencil on back flyleaf. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY BURROUGHS (at a later date) on blank leaf preceding title: "This is the volume I gave to Whitman at the time of its publication John Burroughs." BAL 2144.
