Each with moulded cartouche-shaped back centred by flowers and flanked by foliate sprays, padded arms and serpentine seat, covered in associated 18th Century gros-point and petit-point needlework depicting figures, animals and lush vegetation, one backrail stamped '..CAILLOIS', minor variations to carving, the needlework with restorations

Jacques Nicolas Caillois, maître in 1760.

A closely related set of fauteuils by Caillois was sold Ader Picard Tajan, Paris, 15 March 1983, while another fauteuil by Caillois with similar carving is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle, Paris, 1989, p. 143.
