West Persia, circa 1890
The indigo field with a lozenge lattice of serrated green leaves enclosing stylised floral sprays, in an ivory border of small panels with arrowhead pendants between dusty red floral meander and minor barber-pole stripes, a short kilim strip at one end, very slight overall wear 13ft.3in. x 3ft.2in. (402cm. x 100cm.), together with a SHIRVAN RUG, East Caucasus, circa 1900, the abrashed indigo field with three sunburst medallions, in a tan octagonal paired flowerhead border between polychrome S-motif stripes, slight wear, loss at one end, 5ft.7in. x 4ft.2in. (169cm. x 126cm.) (2)
