A large Louis XV carved and gilded frame, late 18th century
The swept outer edge with scrolling foliage at the centres and corners and with cabochons in chain links along the sides, the cavetto with further scrolling foliate cartouches at the centres and corners containing rocaille motifs, the sides with imbricated laurel leaves above foliate sprays on cross-hatched ground, with stylised foliate inner edge -- 70¼ x 57 x 8¼in. (178.4 x 144.8 x 21cm.)
