A Japanese ivory okimono of a takarabune
19th Century
carved with five young boys clambering inside the vessel with large sail and phoenix head front amongst foaming waves -- 2¾in. (7cm.) high; and a small shibayama-style dish, inlaid in stained ivory, coral, mother-of-pearl and horn with birds amongst blossoming branches -- 2 3/8in. (6cm.) diam., (minor wear).
