Two similar Japanese lacquered wood stands modelled as Ryujin
19th Century
each standing facing forward on a naturalistic wood base holding a tama in clasped hands, wearing body armour with a sinious dragon coiled over one shoulder, deeply carved decorated in red, white, black and green lacquers with inset eyes, horns and teeth, both containing a wakizashi -- 36.in. (91.5cm.) high max, (minor damages and areas of flaking).
