A 'CANTON ENAMEL' SHELL-SHAPED EWER AND BASIN
Circa 1740-45
The ewer modelled as a nautilus shell with an ear-shaped handle and pedestal foot, the basin a deep scallop shell supported on three small toupie feet, all decorated with fluted panels filled with scrolling flowering vine alternating with blue, green and pink ground vine, the basin back with further colorful vine panels issuing from large blue lappets and the ewer interior with peony and lily sprays
