Decorated in blue enamel and gilt with a gilt script monogram contained within a neoclassical shield suspended from a blue ribbon and shown against blue and gilt drapery lined in ermine, the borders of laurel vine, egg-and-dart, gilt diaper and stars, comprising:
A soup tureen, cover and stand
A large oval platter
Two small oval platters
Six dinner plates
Six soup plates
Six side plates
Six butter plates (28)

Lot Essay

Probably made for Phoebe Cornell Hewlett and Lewis Samuel Hewlett II (1776-1846), who held extensive farming property in North Hempstead, Long Island, principally on Cowneck Peninsula (present-day Port Washington, New York)
