A WORCESTER BLUE AND WHITE SAUCEBOAT AND FIVE WASTEBOWLS
Circa 1770, blue crescent marks, a workman's mark of three graduate lines to the fifth bowl
The sauceboat of silver shape with scroll handle, molded with vertical staves, painted with Chinese fishermen within molded cartouches, flower sprays along the rim, the interior with similar sprays, the spout with trellis and diaper-pattern cartouches, 7 7/8in. (20cm.) long; the first bowl printed with Chinese figures within a fenced garden and a flower spray; one printed with flower sprays, the interior rim with diaper pattern and foliate cartouches; one printed in the 'Three Flower' pattern and with other flower sprays; one painted with flowering peony issuing from rockwork and other flowering plants beside a fretwork fence; the fifth painted with Chinese pavillions; willow trees and flowering branches, 6in.
