A WORCESTER TURQUOISE-GROUND ARMORIAL PLATE FOR GEORGE III
Circa 1815, most probably Chamberlain's
Painted with the Royal Arms of George III between lion and unicorn supporters, gilt gadrooned rim, 10¼in. (26cm.) diam.; together with a similar crested turquoise-ground plate, the center with two crests of a man on a black and white striped baton and the motto 'AQUILA NON CAPIT MUSCAS' and a swan issuing from an open crown, above the motto 'IN UTRAQUE FORTUNA FIDELIS', 10 7/8in. (27.6cm.) diam.; and a Derby blue ground armorial plate, iron-red crown, crossed batoins and D mark, the center with the arms of Wharton, the border gilt with foliate scrolls and leaves, 9 7/8in. (25.1cm.) diam. (3)
