Lot Essay

This work was an original design for an invitation to the opening of Dalí's exhibition Dream of Venus, at the New York World's Fair on 15 June 1939.
The invitation is illustrated in R. Descharnes & G. Neret, Dalí 1904-1946, Cologne, 1994, no. 712, p.320.
The authenticity of this work has kindly been confirmed by Robert Descharnes.
