Lot Essay

The sinuous outline of this bureau-cabinet relates to work from the Mainz region. More elaborate versions of this type of Mainz cabinet, but retaining the same essential characteristics, are illustrated in H. Kreisel, Die Kunst des Deutschen Möbels, Munich, 1970, vol.II, figs. 1029-1034.
