In original wooden case without lid
Tasting note: Labelled Taylor Fladgate, part of the original firms title: Taylor, Fladgate and Yeatman, but always shipped as Taylors to the UK. First noted as cask samples in June and July 1996. A heck of a bite, bitter (tannic) finish, and hard, spirity, full of fruit and great length. In other words a classic immature Taylor. With Fonseca, the Wine Spectators joint No. 1 100-point wine and certainly demonstrating its qualities. Still opaque and intense; nose more sublimated than Fonseca, but crisp, lovely fruit; sweeter though with all the component parts for a splendid future. M.B.
