Edo period (18th century),
The large, rectangular box with rounded corners and slightly domed lid decorated on the exterior in gold and silver hiramaki-e and kimpun on a nashiji ground with shells, seaweed and scattered gold crests, mounted on the sides with gilt-copper fittings inscribed with paulownia medallions, the underside of the cover nashiji, the lower section of the interior lined in brocade, the base roiro with sparse nashiji, fitted with pewter rims
