A large Japanese carved and painted rectangular one-sectioned panel
Meiji Period
depicting a four-headed, multi-armed bearded mythical warrior brandishing weapons and holding attributes, his armour incised with scattered cloud scrolls above a lotus flower, seated on a caparisoned Buddhistic lion, flowing tassles hanging down at both sides, a further Buddhistic lions and cub emerging from behind the warrior, naturalistically detailed with inset eyes, on a painted black reserve, within a painted red wooden mount -- 54¼in. (137.5cm.) high, (signature tablet missing, minor damages).
