Fonseca--Vintage 1970
Lot 254: levels bottom neck or better. Lot 255: eleven bottom neck or better with one very top shoulder.
Four recent notes. Still a thick red color, slightly starting show it's age on the rim. A closed nose, hinting at figs. The palate it's that classic rustic Fonseca character. Lots of ripe chewy figs. Really long length. Tasted next to Taylor 1970 twice, last time the Taylor was better, but this time Fonseca had the edge. Either way it confirms what a fine year 1970 is for Vintage Port. DW
