A German iron armada chest
Possibly 17th Century
Banded overall, the hinged rectangular top with a concealed key-hole, with a pierced engraved lockplate to the reverse, enclosing a plain red-painted interior with a further lidded compartment (locked), the front with a star-shaped simulated lock plate and carrying handles to the sides, with a later wooden stand
